Boys and Girls Individual Camps
(5-day, boarding/non-boarding)

Skill development follows a comprehensive skill assessment with our elite coaching and training team. MJP will help develop volleyball-specific strength, agility, balance and total health. Your training will include game situations, strategies and technical/tactical concepts relative to your particular position. To find out more about the SPIRE Complete Athlete, click here.

Training Highlights:

  • 2 training and analysis sessions daily.
  • For Setters - Provides an in-depth look into the art of setting from footwork and tempo to strategies and systems.
  • For Liberos - Liberos will be challenged to develop court leadership, serve/receive passing, defense and transition setting.
  • For Middles - Overview on blocking: 2 step, 3-step, and 5-step block moves and when to use them, hand position, and eye-work. Additionally, proper tempo in middle attack and approach and transition footwork.
  • For Outside Hitters - Fundamentals of passing and defensive technique. Approach and transition footwork. Proper timing for 3, 4 and 5-step approaches. Hitting technique, front and back row.
  • Variety in training sessions addresses individual needs.
  • Michael Johnson Performance (MJP) includes individual initial assessment and training sessions to develop core strength, power, speed and flexibility.
  • Instructional presentations on nutrition/health and mental training.

Specialty Camps
(5-day, boarding/non-boarding)

Setter’s workshop:

SPIRE’s Setting Academy athletes will develop and hone various skill sets unique to being a strong tactical and technical setter on the court. As the leader on the volleyball court, SPIRE’s Setting Academy athletes learn to strategize and effectively run an offense. On the court, each athlete will focus on physical, mental, and tactical high-performance training for the setter. Physical conditioning will be done at our Michael Johnson Performance Training Center that will enhance your speed, strength, and agility. Mental conditioning is done through our Mental Skill performance coach that will help improve your mental toughness and leadership as a setter. With various drills and play, athletes will transform into the athlete you never thought possible.

Hitter and Blocker Workshop:

In SPIRE’s Hitter and Blocker workshop, athletes will develop and hone various skill sets unique to being a strong tactical and technical hitter and blocker. Tactical on the court drills improve the agility and quickness of a hitter/blocker at the net and in the backcourt. On the court, each athlete will focus on physical, mental, and tactical high-performance training for the attacker and blockers. Physical conditioning will be done at our Michael Johnson Performance Training Center that will enhance your speed, strength, and agility. Mental conditioning is done through our Mental Skill performance coach that will help improve your mental toughness and leadership as an attacker/blocker. With various drills and play, athletes will transform into the athlete you never thought possible.

Libero and Backrow Skills Workshop:

In SPIRE’s defensive workshop, athletes will develop and hone various skill sets unique to being a strong tactical and technical libero as well as a backrow player. Liberos and backrow players will work intensely on passing, digging, serving, hitting the floor, and transition setting. On the court, each athlete will focus on physical, mental, and tactical high-performance training for the libero as well as all backrow player development. Physical conditioning will be done at our Michael Johnson Performance Training Center that will enhance your speed, strength, and agility. Mental conditioning is done through our Mental Skill performance coach that will help improve your mental toughness and leadership as an libero or DS. With various drills and play, athletes will transform into the athlete you never thought possible.
