SPIRE Institute & Academy (IA) is excited to hold the US Masters Swimming Long Course National Championship from October 7-10, 2021 at its Geneva, Ohio campus. This event will feature U.S. Olympians and record holders competing for the title, including Olympians Ashley Whitney, 1996 gold medalist, and Yoshi Oyakawa, 1952 gold medalist. The U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) competition features some of the fastest swimmers in the world, with many FINA and USMS competitors breaking records in the past. It’s estimated that the event will welcome over 700 athletes to the competition.
This event is hosted by Greater Cleveland Sports Commission and is expected to provide around $1.5 million in economic impact to Northeast Ohio. The championship is free and open to the public, with COVID precautions, such as masking, required throughout the campus for all attendees, but athletes must be 18 or older to compete.
The competition will feature freestyle, breaststroke, relays and more. A full schedule of the events can be seen here.
