SPIRE Institute & Academy (IA) is pleased to welcome Walter Lininger, Mathematics Teacher, to the SPIRE family. With over 23 years teaching math at Geneva High School, the Ashtabula resident is passionate about integrating mathematical concepts into athletics at SPIRE.
With a B.S. in Mathematics from Kent State University and an M.Ed in Educational Leadership from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, Walter brings with him the desire to introduce project-based learning opportunities to the classroom and utilize the wealth of resources available on campus. He explains, “When I heard about the changes the new ownership was proposing, I couldn’t wait to apply. I am excited to start a new chapter of my career here at SPIRE.”
Walter is creative in his approach to teaching and values relationship building with students. He enjoys engaging learners where they are at and then bringing them to their next step. Dr. Katherine Reedy, Dean of Academics, is looking forward to working with Walter. “He is extremely intelligent and passionate about whole student development. He understands the importance of integrating student passion points into the classroom to build capacity,” she notes, adding, “He is uniquely positioned due to his connection to the Geneva community. I believe that he can further build relationships and connect learning at SPIRE to the greater area.”
When not teaching, Walter says he enjoys spending time with his family and watching them grow. With his own son involved in track & field, he has a deep connection with SPIRE’s mission to achieve both academic and athletic excellence. “My weekends are filled with watching my son run track and cross country.”
