SPIRE FC Clubs Score Invite to National League P.R.O.

09/08/2022

SPIRE Soccer is known for developing college-ready players by giving them early exposure to what higher-level play is all about. Both SPIRE Academy and SPIRE FC are quickly making their mark on a national level.

Following the successful Elite Training Camp with coaches and players from Villareal CF and four teams that qualified for nationals, SPIRE proudly announced all four of their soccer teams have been accepted to compete in the prestigious US Youth Soccer (USYS) National League P.R.O. With four teams invited to participate in the 2022-2023 season, SPIRE is one of the most represented clubs in the country at the competition.

SPIRE Director of Soccer Troy Bingham is ecstatic to be a part of the League. “We are immensely proud of this honor. Our Elite training camp at SPIRE prepared our teams well for Nationals this year and they were a credit to our program in the way they played. It is our goal to raise the bar higher this year and have multiple teams pushing to win Nationals.”

National League P.R.O. represents the top level of team-based competition within the USYS National League, and it features play for boys and girls teams in the 14U-19U age groups and includes up to 48 teams per gender age group.

Since its inception 16 years ago, teams from the National League have captured a combined 96 of 128 possible National Championships. In 2008, seven of the eight championship finals slots in the 15U and 16U age groups were won by National League teams, resulting in the League’s first four national championships. Since that inaugural year, National League teams have continued to excel at the National Championships. Most recently, in Orlando, Florida, National League teams won 13 of 14 possible National Championships. Invitations to compete at this level are an honor for coaches, players, and the programs they represent.

Bingham went on to explain, “With more time to prepare this year and the world class facilities and support at SPIRE for strength and conditioning, technical work and sports psychology, we expect our teams will be better equipped to challenge for titles, not just take part.”
