SPIRE Academy is a national & international academy for high school and postgraduate athletes. Academy is focused on performance training for all athletes & sports-specific training in swimming, track and field, & basketball.

Training

Here at SPIRE Academy we believe that when creating the complete athlete talent alone is not enough. SPIRE Training was introduced to push athletes to the limit in all areas of performance, mentally, physically and nutritionally.

Events

SPIRE Institute has the ability to host everything from small functions to major events. SPIRE's state-of-the-art sports complex is able to accommodate all regulation-sized sports in an Olympic-grade facility.

WORLD CLASS FACILITIES

Cristal Courts

A one-of-a-kind, multipurpose court surface that delivers enhanced training and a competitive advantage on up to ten volleyball courts, six basketball courts and for a variety of gymnastics and mat sports.

Indoor Fields

One synthetic turf field (Astroturf Game Day) that can be used as a full-size soccer, lacrosse, football, baseball, softball, field hockey, and rugby field or be divided into smaller training areas.

Aquatics

10-lane, 50-meter Olympic size pool, with two moveable bulkheads for subdivision of the pool. A one-meter and a three-meter diving area with four springboards. Additional 25-yard pool to support training and various therapy activities.

Outdoor Stadium

Synthetic multi-sport, lighted field with a 9-lane, 400-meter polyurethane international track with a spectator capacity of 10,000, including 5,000 bleacher seats; 1,200 captain’s chairs, press boxes, coaches boxes, luxury suites; a 2,500 seat amphitheater; and seating for 2,000 on catered patios.

Banquet Center

A glass-encased 30,000 sq. ft. banquet, hospitality, and meeting space overlooks the indoor track facility. Features include tiered dining/viewing areas, expansive banquet hall, private conference room and custom designed kitchen.

Indoor Track & Field

8-lane, 300-meter Beynon track, with radius used on outdoor tracks. Separate field event area with two high jump, two long jump, two pole vault pits, two shot put circles, and portable weight throw cages that does not interfere with track events.

Justin Brantley

Academy Director

As a former Division 1 athlete, Justin brings 10+ years of high level coaching, training and recruiting experience combined with a relentless will to win. His focus is on combining his expertise with the Student-Athletes desire to create results! 

Charlie Powell

SPIRE Track & Field Director

Powell has coached Olympians, two NCAA individual champions, 18 NCAA All-Americans, one Pan Am Champion, and 60 individual NCAA Championship Qualifiers.

Thad Schultz

SPIRE Swimming Director

Thad Schultz has previously coached at Ohio State University, Penn State University and Clemson University. 

Gravelle Craig

Head Prep & Post Grad Basketball Coach

Coach Craig brings in over 18 years Division I coaching experience including six as a Head Coach. He most recently was an assistant coach at Stetson University. Prior to Stetson, Craig spent seven seasons as an Assistant (2004-2011) and six as a Head Coach (2011-2017) at Bethune Cookman University.

Dawud Abdur-Rahkman

Head High School Basketball Coach

Coach Dawud Abdur-Rahkman brings 25 years of coaching experience to SPIRE Institute. Including five years as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA D1 level, four Years as a Head Coach at the Junior College level, and four years as an Assistant Coach at the NCAA D3 level.

John Wallace

SPIRE Performance Director

John comes to SPIRE from Cleveland State University where he earned his Master's degree in exercise science and was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for the Vikings athletic department. He has a diverse background in sports that helps him understand the specific needs and demands to increase his athletes physical qualities. John is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association (RSCC-NSCA).
